Red Gumamela is a unique homestay in Pacifico, Siargao that combines industrial design with native Filipino elements while maintaining strong ties to the local community. When the owners needed a distinctive brand identity for their social media and Airbnb presence, they sought a design that would stand out in the saturated vacation rental market.
Red Gumamela is a unique homestay in Pacifico, Siargao that combines industrial design with native Filipino elements while maintaining strong ties to the local community. When the owners needed a distinctive brand identity for their social media and Airbnb presence, they sought a design that would stand out in the saturated vacation rental market.
Beginning with a comprehensive brand strategy consultation, I developed a deep understanding of their vision and values. Rather than following the typical tropical aesthetic of modern abstract palms, I drew inspiration from vintage Filipino and Hawaiian postcards and stamps, incorporating the namesake hibiscus flower (gumamela) into the design concept.
The final brand identity merges nostalgic illustrative techniques with modern photography collage and Filipino design elements, creating a unique, alternative aesthetic that perfectly captures Pacifico’s unspoiled charm. The versatile design system includes various logo iterations, from complex photographic compositions to clean wordmarks, suitable for different applications from social media to merchandise.
